Willy Brandt Prize
Next call for proposals: October 2010
On the 8th of October 2001, the Board of Trustees of the Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt Foundation, at the suggestion of the Board of Governors of the Foundation, decided to award, from 2003 on, a bi-annual „Willy Brandt Prize for the Advancement of Rising Young Scholars“.
Outstanding dissertations or habilitation theses in an historical, social-scientific or juristic discipline shall be honoured. The theme shall have a relevance in the broadest sense to the foundational purpose of the institution, to preserve the memory of Willy Brandt’s influence. The work must be written in German or English and have been accepted by the respective school and shall be no older than a year and a half – calculated from the submission deadline at the applicants’ school – at the time of its presentation to the selection committee and not yet be published.
The prize recipient will be offered the gratuitous publication of his/her work in the future series „Willy-Brandt-Studies“ (Schriftenreihe Willy-Brandt-Studien) to the volumes „Willy Brandt - Berliner Ausgabe' or alternatively a grant to cover printing costs. In addition, he/she will receive a document signed by the chairs of the Board of Trustees and Board of Governors of the Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt Foundation.
