Struktur
The Greens were founded in 1980 as a union of several opposition groups with different interests like environmental problems, peace movement, problems regarding the equality between man and woman, problems related to the Third World, etc. In May 1993 the Greens merges with Bündnis 90 (Alliance 90) to the party Die Grünen/Bündnis 90. The basic values of the party are "ecology", "social security", "basic democracy" and "non-violence". The party calls for internatinal solidarity and equal rights for men and women.Since October 1998 for the first time the Greens participate in the red-green coaltion government of Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schröder (SPD). The Green Joschka Fischer serves als Foreign Minister and Vice Chancellor.
