Dictatorial authority for Mussolini
On 24 December 1925, the Italian parliament grants wide-reaching dictatorial powers to Benito Mussolini, the leader of the Fascists. The „Duce“ – supported by the king of Italy – will ruthlessly use his power to establish a Fascist dictatorship in Italy. By the following year all Italian parties – with the exception of the National Fascist Party (PNF) – will have been banned and special courts created to suppress any and all opposition in the country.
