Mass murder of Jews from all over Europe begins
With the arrival of the first deportation trains at the concentration camp of Auschwitz (Poland) on 26 March 1942, the systematic mass murder of European Jews in gas chambers begins. By 1945 over a million people, 90 per cent of them Jews, will die in Auschwitz.
