Murder of Federal Chancellor Dollfuss

During an attack on the Federal Chancellery in Vienna on 25 July 1934, the Austrian Federal Chancellor Engelbert Dollfuss (Christian Socialist Party) is murdered by National Socialists who gained entrance to the building disguised as soldiers and policemen. However, the ensuing attempted putsch by Austrian Nazis is put down. The previous Minister of Instruction Kurt Schuschnigg (Christian Socialist Party) becomes the new Federal Chancellor.
