Carting away of sackfuls of money for reparation payments

The victorious allied powers of the First World War meet on 24 January 1921 in Paris to determine the amount of German reparations. They require the Reich to pay an astronomical sum of 226 billion gold marks within 42 years. The decision of the „Conference of Paris“ causes indignation and horror in Germany. The Reich government in Berlin calls the requirement „unattainable“.
