After the uprising of 1919, a violent upheaval by Polish citizens occurs for a second time in Upper Silesia on 17 August 1920. The rebels bring parts of the Katowice administrative district under their control. They demand the abolition of German „security forces“ and the „evacuation of all newly-settled Germans“. In May of 1921, discord will erupt again. However, the rebels will fail in their objective to establish independent regional Polish legislative bodies in Upper Silesia.
