Zabern Affair

Alsace-Lorraine was incorporated into the German Reich after the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871. To natives of the region, the Prussian Army units stationed there are still an occupation power.

On 6 November 1913 in the city of Zabern, protests erupt as a result of encroachments by Prussian officers against the local population. Further provocations by the military and growing resistance by the natives bring the „Zabern Affair“ more and more into public focus.
