The very old Reich President von Hindenburg initiates with his policy of emergency degrees the end of the republic

On 28 March 1931 Reich President Paul von Hindenburg issues the first „emergency decree to combat political excesses“. It limits freedom of assembly and facilitates banning political print media such as placards or pamphlets. In addition, the decree empowers the government to forbid political organisations from wearing certain kinds of clothing or insignia.
