A size comparison of the Hindenburg with a 747 and the Titanic. The Titanic is only 78 feet longer than the Hindenburg at 882 feet long.

For still unexplained reasons, the large blimp LZ 129 „Hindenburg“, which has just crossed the Atlantic, bursts into flames and explodes during its landing on 6 May 1937 at Lakehurst Airport in the American state of New York. Thirty-six passengers and crew members lose their lives.
